KARSHAKA DINAM CELEBRATION🌾
Chingam 1, the first day of the Malayalam month Chingam, holds great significance in Kerala as it marks the beginning of the harvest season. This day is officially observed as Karshaka Dinam (Farmers’ Day) in recognition of the invaluable contributions of farmers, who form the backbone of our nation’s economy and culture. Farmers’ Day is meant to honour their hard work, raise awareness about the importance of agriculture, and encourage students to appreciate and respect farming as a noble profession.
Since Chingam 1 (August 17, 2025) fell on a Sunday this year, our school celebrated Karshaka Dinam on August 16, 2025, with great enthusiasm and reverence.
The day’s special assembly was held in the school ground. The program commenced with a soulful prayer rendered by the school choir, which set a serene and inspiring tone for the event. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by our respected Headmistress, Smt. Smitha, who highlighted the significance of Farmers’ Day and the vital role played by farmers in ensuring food security.
The highlight of the assembly was a series of presentations conducted by ten students from Class 10. These included thought-provoking speeches on the importance of agriculture, the recitation and appreciation of poems on farming, and the presentation of meaningful quotes and messages that reflected the dignity of labour and the value of agriculture in society. The students’ active participation brought out the essence of the day and inspired everyone present.
Following the assembly, the girls of Class 10 A staged a graceful dance performance based on the theme of farming. Through their performance, they beautifully portrayed the close bond between human life and agriculture, adding colour and liveliness to the occasion.
