RISING AGAINST DRUG ABUSE - NSS INITIATIVES @ SVMCTE
On march 24, As part of the state-level initiative "Lahari Muktam Njanum Ente Kudumbavum" under the National Service Scheme (NSS), Our college SVMCTE, organized a series of powerful awareness activities aimed at eradicating drug abuse. The campaign included a poster-making competition, where students creatively depicted the harmful effects of drug use. The posters showcased a wide range of ideas—from the emotional struggles of addiction to the strength found in recovery—demonstrating the deep awareness and artistic talents of the participants. Reels were produced and shared on social media to spread strong anti-drug messages in a format relatable to today's youth. A high-energy flash mob was performed by students to grab public attention and convey the urgency of the issue. Additionally, a song performance against drug abuse moved the audience with its emotional appeal.
One of the most notable events was a rally, which started from the college and concluded at Vendar bus stop. Students carried placards with anti-drug slogans, engaging the public in the message of a drug-free community.
In a separate and deeply symbolic event called “Anandhadeepam”, students and their families switched off their electric lights and lit traditional oil lamps at home. This gesture represented the light of awareness and hope, illuminating the path toward a healthier, addiction-free life for individuals and society. Anandhadeepam served as a spiritual and emotional climax to the program, inspiring collective reflection and commitment to change.
