HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI DAY PROGRAMME

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day was observed at KSMVHSS, Edavattom on 6th August 2025 in remembrance of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima (6th August 1945) and Nagasaki (9th August 1945). Although the two days fall separately, both were jointly commemorated on 6th August in our school to emphasize the importance of peace, humanity, and global harmony.

The program began with a special assembly held at the school ground at 9:30 a.m. The students attended in different uniforms, including JRC, Little Kites, Scouts, and regular school uniform, which added color and diversity to the gathering. The assembly started with a prayer by the school choir team, followed by a welcome speech by Smt. Divya, Social Science Teacher, who spoke about the relevance of observing this day and the lessons humanity must learn from history.

As part of the observance, children prepared paper doves (symbol of peace) and placards carrying peace messages and anti-war slogans, which were displayed during the assembly. Several students presented quotations and delivered speeches highlighting the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the impact of nuclear warfare, and the urgent need for peace in the world. The program deeply moved the audience, reminding everyone of the horrors of war and the importance of building a peaceful society.

In the afternoon session, a quiz competition on the theme of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was organized in the seminar hall. The event witnessed active participation from students. Aaron and Ameesha emerged as the winners, and they were awarded prizes in recognition of their achievement.

The program concluded on a solemn and reflective note, instilling in the students the values of peace, humanity and compassion.
