Teaching Practice - First Week (July 14 - July 18)

July 14, Monday

Today marked the beginning of our teaching practice. My allotted school is KSMVHSS Edavattom, Karuvelil P.O, commonly known as Poreeckal School. The first bell rang at 9:30 AM, and we reached the school by 8:45 AM. As the group leader, I handed over our attendance register to the Headmistress, Smitha Miss. I also met the Biology teacher, Rejitha Miss, who provided the class timetable. The Headmistress allotted us space in the science laboratory for our preparation and seating.

I was assigned to teach both 8th and 9th standards. The 8th standard includes both English and Malayalam medium students. During the 3rd period (11:20 AM to 11:55 AM), I took my first class for 9A Malayalam medium students. I introduced myself, interacted with the students, and asked their names to build a friendly classroom environment. Then I started Chapter 2: "ദഹനവും പോഷകസംവഹനവും" (Digestion and Nutrient Transport) and taught the topic "ആഹാരത്തിലെ പോഷകഘടകങ്ങൾ" (Nutrients in Food). I used charts and ICT tools to make the session more engaging and effective.

July 15, Tuesday

Today, I had classes for both 8th and 9th standards. During the 4th period (11:55 AM to 12:30 PM), I taught the topic “Food Plate” to 9th standard students, using charts and ICT presentations to explain the importance of balanced nutrition. In the last period (2:55 PM to 3:40 PM), I handled the 8th standard class and got acquainted with all the students.And start the portion of first unit "Integrated Farming "

July 16, Wednesday

I had a class for the 8th standard during the 3rd period. I teach the portion "smart farming ". I also handled substitution periods in 9A and 9B. In 9A, I taught the topic "Nutrition in Amoeba and Hydra", and in 9B, I conducted a session on Yoga. I made use of charts and ICT to explain the biological processes effectively. A significant development this day was that Classes 6 and 7 were officially allotted to our school, in recognition of the 25 years of dedicated hardwork by our Manager Sir. This was a proud and joyful moment for the entire school community.and the entire school celebrated this proud moment.

July 17,Thursday 

Today, I took a class for 9A during the 2nd period (10:25 AM to 11:10 AM), where I taught the topic “Digestion”. I used visual charts and ICT tools to explain the process clearly and encourage student interaction. 

July 18, Friday

Today, due to a strike, no regular classes were conducted. However, we reported to the school, signed the attendance register, and completed our pending documentation and planning work. 

Weekly Summary

Throughout the week, we entered the school by 9:10 AM daily. During the afternoon, we assisted in serving the mid-day meal to the students. After all students left, we signed  the register  and left the school by 3:50 PM.It was a week filled with learning, excitement, and responsibility. The use of charts and ICT tools enhanced the effectiveness of our teaching.

The trip began on February 20, 2025, with students embarking on a well-organized tour to four popular destinations in Karnataka: Coorg, Chikkamagaluru, Bailoor (Belur), and Udupi. RISING AGAINST DRUG ABUSE - NSS INITIATIVES @ SVMCTE

On march 24, As part of the state-level initiative "Lahari Muktam Njanum Ente Kudumbavum" under the National Service Scheme (NSS), Our college SVMCTE, organized a series of powerful awareness activities aimed at eradicating drug abuse. The campaign included a poster-making competition, where students creatively depicted the harmful effects of drug use. The posters showcased a wide range of ideas—from the emotional struggles of addiction to the strength found in recovery—demonstrating the deep awareness and artistic talents of the participants. Reels were produced and shared on social media to spread strong anti-drug messages in a format relatable to today's youth. A high-energy flash mob was performed by students to grab public attention and convey the urgency of the issue. Additionally, a song performance against drug abuse moved the audience with its emotional appeal. Pulamon Canal Cleaning Programme

On October 4,2024,the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of our college SVMCTE took part in the Clean Kerala initiative by organizing a cleanup event at the Pulamon canal in Kottarakkara. The volunteers worked diligently to remove waste, debris, and pollutants from the canal, contributing to the improvement of local water quality and the overall cleanliness of the area. This effort not only helped in preserving the natural ecosystem but also raised awareness among the local community about the importance of maintaining clean water bodies for both ecological balance and public health.
