WORLD POETRY DAY📙🖊️ - English Subject Association


The Department of English at Sri Vidyadhiraja Model College of Teacher Education, Vendar, proudly organized a vibrant celebration on the occasion of World Poetry Day on March 28, 2025. Although World Poetry Day is officially observed on March 21 each year, the college held its event a week later. The celebration took place in the Seminar Hall and brought together students and faculty members to appreciate the beauty and power of poetry.

The programme began with a warm welcome, setting the tone for an inspiring day dedicated to the art of poetic expression. Several engaging activities were conducted as part of the celebration, including puzzle-making, a musical poem presentation, and a group song performance. Each segment was creatively curated to reflect the theme of poetry and provided participants with an opportunity to showcase their talents and enthusiasm.

The highlight of the event was the musical poem presentation, where students rhythmically recited verses accompanied by soft background music, creating a serene and thoughtful atmosphere. The group song further lifted spirits, emphasizing the communal and emotive power of words in harmony.

The event concluded on a high note with the message: "Let the rhythm of poetry inspire young readers everywhere." The celebration was not only a tribute to poets and their work but also a motivating experience for budding writers and poetry lovers in the college. It reinforced the importance of literary arts in education and personal growth.

RISING AGAINST DRUG ABUSE - NSS INITIATIVES @ SVMCTE

On march 24, As part of the state-level initiative "Lahari Muktam Njanum Ente Kudumbavum" under the National Service Scheme (NSS), Our college SVMCTE, organized a series of powerful awareness activities aimed at eradicating drug abuse. The campaign included a poster-making competition, where students creatively depicted the harmful effects of drug use. The posters showcased a wide range of ideas—from the emotional struggles of addiction to the strength found in recovery—demonstrating the deep awareness and artistic talents of the participants. Reels were produced and shared on social media to spread strong anti-drug messages in a format relatable to today's youth. A high-energy flash mob was performed by students to grab public attention and convey the urgency of the issue. Pulamon Canal Cleaning Programme

On October 4,2024,the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of our college SVMCTE took part in the Clean Kerala initiative by organizing a cleanup event at the Pulamon canal in Kottarakkara. The volunteers worked diligently to remove waste, debris, and pollutants from the canal, contributing to the improvement of local water quality and the overall cleanliness of the area. This effort not only helped in preserving the natural ecosystem but also raised awareness among the local community about the importance of maintaining clean water bodies for both ecological balance and public health.
