WORLD FOREST DAY - Social Science Subject Association

On March 28, Forest Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Srividyadiraja College of Teacher Education, under the leadership of the Social Science Department. Although the official date of International Day of Forests is March 21, the college observed the occasion a week later to ensure better participation and preparation. The program commenced at 2:00 p.m. and was formally inaugurated by our respected principal, Dr. Lala Mani P, who highlighted the importance of forests in maintaining ecological balance and preserving biodiversity.

As part of the celebration, a variety of cultural and educational events were organized to raise awareness about the significance of forests. A quiz competition was held, focusing on forest conservation, wildlife, and environmental sustainability. It encouraged students to learn more about nature and the pressing need to protect it. One of the highlights of the day was a captivating dance performance that symbolized the deep connection between nature and indigenous communities.

The performers beautifully portrayed the lifestyle of Adivasis and early human beings, emphasizing how closely they lived with nature. Dressed in costumes made from different types of leaves and holding primitive tools, they brought to life the practices and traditions of ancient times. The performance was not only artistic but also educational, reminding us of the sustainable ways of living followed by our ancestors. Overall, the Forest Day celebration was both informative and inspiring, reinforcing the need to conserve forests for future generations.
