The International Women’s Day celebration at SVMCTE was held with great enthusiasm on March 10, 2025, in the college seminar hall at 10:00 AM. Although Women’s Day is globally observed on March 8, due to academic schedules, the college celebrated it on March 10. The event was organized by the Department of Social Science.

The program began with a prayer by the college choir, setting a respectful tone for the day. Mrs. Chanchal Titus delivered the welcome speech, greeting the audience and highlighting the significance of the event. She delivered an inspiring message asserting that women have always been at the forefront of change, playing transformative roles in families, communities, and the nation. She called upon everyone to break away from outdated stereotypes and create environments where women are encouraged to lead and innovate. Dr. Lalamani also expressed her vision of a future where every girl graduating from SVMCTE carries not just a degree but a strong sense of identity, confidence, and purpose.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our inaugurator Mr. Goutham Krishna (Manager of SVMCTE)was delayed. Stepping in was our chief guest, Dr. Bindhu, Head of FSRS, Sadanandapuram, (mother of Mr. Goutham Krishna) who formally inaugurated the event and gave the keynote address, speaking on women’s achievements and resilience. She emphasized the powerful role of women in every sphere—from science and politics to education and arts. She called education the most empowering tool for women and urged the younger generation to raise daughters who are bold and confident, and sons who are respectful and supportive.

The Physical Science Department hosted a lively quiz on the contributions of women. The Mathematics and English Departments jointly presented an interactive tableau, depicting women in various professional fields. The Commerce Department performed a meaningful skit on challenges and successes of women. We Natural Science Department conducted a game titled “Find Me”, where clues were provided to identify famous women from different sectors.

Dr. Bindhu Mam was honored with a ceremonial shawl and a memento as a token of appreciation. Felicitations were delivered by Mrs. Hima Raveendran (NSS Coordinator), Mrs. Anjali (Assistant Professor, Physical Science), and Mrs. Drisya Raj, a first-year B.Ed student.
