PI (π) DAY CELEBRATION

The Mathematics Department of SVMCTE,celebrated Pi Day with great enthusiasm on March 14 at 2:00 PM in the college seminar hall. The event was organized to highlight the importance of the mathematical constant π (pi) and to familiarize students with its significance in the world of mathematics.

The program began with an informative session introducing Pi Day and the historical journey behind the discovery of the value of pi. The students presented a well-structured video presentation that offered a clear and comprehensive explanation about π. It covered various aspects such as the origin of Pi Day, the approximate and irrational value of pi (3.14159...), and the contributions of prominent mathematicians and scientists who explored and refined the value of pi throughout history.

The video presentation also emphasized the relevance and application of pi in mathematics, geometry, and real-world contexts. The clarity and depth of the video helped participants grasp even the minute details about pi and its role in scientific progress.

Following the presentation, a pi-themed quiz was conducted. The questions were directly based on the content shown in the video, encouraging participants to pay close attention to the information shared. The quiz witnessed enthusiastic participation, and after a competitive round, the Social Science and Physical Science departments emerged as winners. The winning teams were appreciated and awarded thoughtful gifts as a token of recognition.

Next, the organizers conducted an engaging and fun-filled game related to mathematical concepts and pi, which added a light-hearted and interactive touch to the celebration. This was followed by a pi value writing competition, where participants were first shown the extended value of pi on the projector. After a few minutes, the screen was turned off, and participants were asked to write down as many digits of pi as they could recall. This competition tested the memory and focus of the participants, and the Natural Science and Physical Science departments stood out with their impressive performance. Winners of this round were also awarded gifts for their achievement.

The event was both educational and enjoyable, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the beauty of mathematics. The Pi Day celebration successfully instilled curiosity, appreciation, and excitement among students about one of the most fascinating constants in the mathematical universe.
