NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY
National Science Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sri Vidyadhiraja Model College of Teacher Education, Vendar, under the national theme: “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The event brought together a vibrant community of students and faculty from the Physical Science and Natural Science departments to honor the spirit of scientific inquiry and discovery.
The celebration began with an inspiring welcome address by Mrs. Pooja, a first-year B.Ed student, who set a thoughtful tone by emphasizing the role of science in national development. This was followed by the official inauguration by the Principal, Dr. Lalamani P, who highlighted the importance of scientific thinking in education and the pivotal role of future educators in shaping young scientific minds.
A key highlight was the video presentation on the life and achievements of Nobel laureate Sir C.V. Raman. The documentary not only illustrated his groundbreaking discovery—the Raman Effect—but also captured his relentless passion for scientific research. Students were visibly inspired by his story, gaining insights into the perseverance required to make a mark in the world of science.
To stimulate curiosity and critical thinking, a science quiz competition was held, engaging students with a variety of questions across multiple scientific disciplines. The quiz fostered both teamwork and excitement, reinforcing the idea that learning science can be both educational and enjoyable.
Adding a cultural and analytical dimension, a unique session titled “Myth and Real Fact” explored how traditional beliefs intersect with scientific reasoning. Students actively participated in discussions that linked ancient myths to modern scientific explanations, creating a lively exchange of ideas.
Creativity took center stage in the poster-making competition held on the theme “Science for Sustainable Development.” With vibrant visuals and strong messages, students advocated for solutions to pressing global issues such as climate change, clean energy, and environmental conservation. This activity not only showcased artistic talent but also encouraged awareness of sustainability through science.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the Candlelight Tribute to Legendary Scientists. A beautifully decorated table displayed portraits of iconic figures like Sir C.V. Raman, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, and others. Students lit candles in their honor, symbolizing the flame of knowledge and the enduring legacy these great minds have left behind.
The entire celebration was a seamless blend of education, inspiration, and creativity. With active student participation and dedicated coordination by the faculty, the event succeeded in igniting scientific curiosity while paying heartfelt tribute to the pioneers of science. National Science Day 2025 at SVMCTE was not just an event—it was a powerful experience that reinforced the importance of science in building a progressive and empowered nation.
