ANTI - DRUG AWARENESS CLASS
An Anti-Drug Awareness Programme was conducted at our college SVMCTE,on March 24th at 11:30 AM in the college seminar hall. The programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug use and encourage them to lead a drug-free life.
The event commenced with a soulful prayer by the college choir, setting a solemn and thoughtful tone for the session. Following this, the welcome address was delivered by Anu G., a first-year B.Ed. student, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, the invited guests, the resource person, faculty, and students.
The official inauguration of the programme was done by Sri Goutham Krishna, Manager of SVMCTE, who spoke briefly about the importance of awareness programmes in shaping responsible citizens. This was followed by an inspiring message by the Principal of the college, Dr. Lalamani P., who also served as the General Convenor of the programme. She emphasized the role of educational institutions in guiding students away from destructive habits and instilling values of social responsibility. The event was efficiently coordinated by the NSS Programme Officer, Smt. Hima Raveendran.
The core of the event was the awareness session led by the resource person, Sri Vipin Kumar V, Excise Inspector,Excise Range Office, Ezhukone. With years of experience in the Excise Department and direct involvement in anti-drug operations and awareness initiatives, he brought deep insight into the topic. His presentation was both factual and emotionally stirring. He thoroughly explained the different categories of narcotic substances, the subtle ways in which drug addiction starts among youngsters, and the psychological and physical effects on users. He spoke with urgency and clarity about how addiction not only destroys individuals but also tears apart families and communities.
Sri Vipin Kumar also detailed real-life incidents and case studies from his professional experience, giving students a realistic view of the consequences of drug abuse. He emphasized the strong connection between drug usage and criminal activities and explained the legal ramifications under the NDPS Act. He urged students to be vigilant, support peers in distress, and become ambassadors of anti-drug campaigns in their communities. His talk was interactive, engaging, and left a lasting impact on the audience.A memento was presented to sri Vipin kumar Sir as the token of colleges heartfelt thanks.
As a mark of respect and appreciation, the college community honoured Sri Narayanan N., a retired teacher and committed social worker from Kottathala, with a ceremonial shawl. He later addressed the gathering with a heartfelt and inspiring speech that highlighted the need for collective social responsibility, especially among the younger generation, to fight drug abuse and other social evils.
Felicitations were delivered by Smt. Hima Raveendran( NSS Coordibator)and Sneha Mol S( first-year B.Ed. student) who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the resource person and organizers. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ajin Augustin, another first-year B.Ed. student, who acknowledged the efforts of all who made the programme a success.
