World Diabetes Day

Our Department (Natural Science) at Sri Vidyadhiraja Model College of Teacher Education, Vendar, observed World Diabetes Day with an impactful awareness program titled "Beat Diabetes" on 15th November 2024. Organized under the NSS Unit (KL-07-176), the event took place in the college seminar hall and was aimed at spreading awareness about diabetes, its causes, prevention, and management. The program began with a quiz competition that engaged the students and tested their knowledge on diabetes and lifestyle diseases. This was followed by an informative video presentation that highlighted the growing global burden of diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis, healthy eating, and regular physical activity.

A major highlight of the event was the thought-provoking skit titled "Madhuram Atra Madhuramalla", which captivated the audience with its emotional and powerful message. The skit narrated the story of a common man who unknowingly suffers from diabetes due to his unhealthy lifestyle and excessive intake of sweets. Through creative storytelling, the performance emphasized that not everything sweet is beneficial and warned against the hidden dangers of diabetes. The skit was both entertaining and educational, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. The entire event successfully fulfilled its purpose of educating and motivating students and staff to make conscious lifestyle choices to prevent diabetes. It was a meaningful step by the college towards promoting health awareness and social responsibility among future educators.
